University hell

anyone else going through the torture of university applications at the moment?

- my school is making us hand our completed apps in tomorrow, despite the fact that they're not sending them off for another month. This would be ok if they had been REMOTELY freakin' helpful about it, but no, they've given us next to NO advice or help except in the most general terms, and all they've succeeded in doing is demoralising everyone. Plus, have just found out that someone else in my school is applying to my top university - Edinburgh - for exactly the same course - French and Italian - and she's fluent in Italian. Well screw this...

sorry, just had to vent this! gah, can't wait for this to be over with :(

you'd be surprised at how little this stuff counts to admissions officers in most places. besides, it's not like they'll have only one place available to your college or school. how are your grades?

Re: University hell

I hated filling out applications. The essays are always retarded.

Well, actually, my NYU essay was really cool, but the rest were retarded.

Thanks :) Unfortunately my school is well...'posh' to say the least and our teachers have warned us that some unis don't particularly want too many from here...but tbh I really don't know how true that is. (Also, it may be a myth but people say that Edinburgh aren't too fond of Southerners...hm)
Grades are fine, 4 A's, but still...gah. Guess I'll just have to wait and see.

And easytiger you're right, there really is no point us putting in our apps so early - don't know why school wants them in now. Which unis/courses are you looking at?

If it helps ease yr mind, I gotta say that most of the things that tutors and school management recommended to me and my friends when we were doing our UCAS apps (back in the day heh) were pretty much all useless lies. lol

Pretty much every uni I applied to, if I had the required predicted grades, they accepted me, if I didn't have them, they didn't.

Just make sure tutors don't fuck up your predicted grades. Mine did. Asstards.
