Good day thrift shopping

Picked up a few still sealed high bias casettes (you know, for the four tracking) and some awesome NES games. Zelda I and II, Castlevania, Punch-Out, Bionic Commando, and more. The girl got glass beads, shoes and a skirt.

And we had we bahn mi and shawerma all in one day. I do love DC.

The Food Bank dumpster is filled to the brim! If I am not mistaken there is meat in there this time. MEAT!

Man, I can't wait to get back there this evening when the bums are drunk and high!

Also, Free flu shot if you look and smell dirty!

Re: Good day thrift shopping

Yeah that show is a guilty pleasure. It gets dangerously close to being maudlin once in a while, but overall it's very watchable and it looks so damn good too - from the offices, to the sleek apartments and even the scenes on the streets of NYC. And Donna. God damn...

Re: Good day thrift shopping

yeah it's a clever little show...kind of teeters on velveeta cheeze once in a while...but it does bounce back and redeem itself. definitely my guilty pleasure and donna....

Dope! I still play Mike Tyson's Punch Out on my Android phone.

Re: Good day thrift shopping

I've never played video games. I'm not lying about this.

But you bring up NES and I want to try it. Do you get to save any of your game play or anything or is it very much arcade like?

Re: Good day thrift shopping

It differs with each game. Most are arcade like. Some will generate a code that you write down so you can start again at the place you left off.

Re: Good day thrift shopping

I kind of want to play. I know there's no way in hell I could play anything that came out in the last 15-20 years though.

Re: Good day thrift shopping

I'd say buy a Super NES. Best system ever IMHO. They are plentiful and more reliable. The games are much funner but still easy enough to play.

Or if you have an Android tablet or Jailbroken iPad, you can download emulators for free.

Re: Good day thrift shopping

I tried that on my android tablet, but couldn't get the damn emulator to locate the games stored on the sd card.

A Super NES can be had from Craigslist or ebay for about $30-40, usually with a couple of games.

Re: Good day thrift shopping

I have a mild, mid spectrum color blindness. So a a good deal of the colors in a video game are either unidentified or ultra visible. So a lot of the "newer" games are just bleah to me.

The older ones with choppy animation and less colors/blending are more appealing to me.

Re: Good day thrift shopping

I had an Atari 400 with Donkey Kong, Duck Hunt, Ms Pac Man and Pong!

No wonder I never really got into gaming.

So many games have been re-released or redone--but never Berserk!

Why the fuck not! I loved that game.

Re: Good day thrift shopping

was that the one where robots chased you around a building and you had to find a target or whatever?

Yeah, I think I probably could have played that....but my middle sister has epilepsy so she couldn't watch.

Also reminds me of my idea for an epileptic disco.

Re: Good day thrift shopping

"Also reminds me of my idea for an epileptic disco."

I think an epileptic Dance Dance Revolution would be amazing.

I used to play that Wii baseball game with my friend who had Lou Gehrig's disease. The stakes were low. Loser had to give the 'today I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the Earth' speech.
