I had the best time with my daughter and dogs this past weekend hiking, backpacking, swimming, fishing....
We started out in jackson hot springs, mt and hiked up to a little alpine lake.
my daughter is 8 and she was amazing the whole way up. i'd like to share some pics with you all and despite the great sadness of EL i'd like to try to bring a little joy....she always warned me not to post pics on here or the net. these are for her 'cause i loved her spirit.

What did that glacier beer taste like?
It wasn't an IPA.....which you fucking go on and an about....It looked more micro puff to me. Did it taste like PBR in an unironic way?

Jack and Ozzie are my labs. Bruce is my golden retriever and he couldn't make it cause he had hernia surgery and had to stay to rest.
he will most likely go back with me when i go again the 3rd week of september. it's a tougher hike cause it's cold as fuck up there but i always bring the good gear.
@doug, yeah it's a good thing....she put a grown man to shame (my other friend who went with us)...i loved the fact that she picked up on that he was a weenie and a whiner and that he "has delicate feet!" so, yeah maybe Studette ;)

an asshole is an asshole...whether you're human or a cat or a dog ;)
i especially love and give tons of love and attention to my 3 pups.
jack is black
ozzie is blonde
bruce is snowy white.....
vinny, our cat, is a negroid as well.
our 9 chickens vary in race and color but all taste the same....

she fished for the first time this weekend.... ;) she told me she loved it and that it was really fun.
my daughter is as tough as her mom ;)
when she is older i will get her fly fishing but for now...we'll stick to the basics...she's been with me plenty on a raft and watched me fly fish....she loves to pet the fish, but only after she has wet her hands ;)

i love glacier. but i'm equally stoked to hit the pioneers. one long as tall range smack dab near the big hole valley. i've hiked up there only twice before and this time i'm going somewhere new and i'm pretty pumped.

Yeah, I filter too. The wifey just got me a Katadyn Hiker Pro for my birthday that I had been eyeing. One of the fellas on our trip had one and I was impressed with it.
I had never tried the tablets. I always carry them but only for emergencies. I got a wild hare this summer and decided to give them a whirl. Just plain god-awful.
Texas would be a bit out of the way from Cali to Montana, but I will be sure to remember that!
I didn't see a hammock pic. I used mine and loved it. No back aches, no leg cramps, and I even slept in long past sunrise one morning. We had about 90 minutes of marble sized hail tempered with a downpour and I was perfectly dry. One of my compatriots had a river going through his tent (though he picked a really lousy place for it).
