Women in the work place...

In today’s society, a lot of the women folk are going out and working. Leaving their children in day care and doing a lot of the things that were traditionally done by men. Does anyone else think that a woman’s place should be in the home? I’m not saying that a single mom who has to make ends meet can’t do what she has to do- but by nature, it does work best when the woman is in the home. When women stay at home they can give their children the love and nurture they need to grow and thrive and become well developed as adults. I think a lot of these mass murder-suicides are because these people didn’t get the love and attention they needed from mom. Its a proven fact that when women stay at home and the husband works, the home life is much more stable for everyone involved.

Didn't your mother die when you were very young?

How has that affected you?

Yes, she died when I was 11-years-old. I think I do feel abandoned in a way.

Meade, I am guessing if 11 year-old Meade was anything like 33 year-old Meade she probably committed suicide.

Re: Women in the work place...

It's posts like this that makes me think this is still a practicla joke.

There's no way people exist in the world that think this way let alone talk like this in public.

Also, "it's a proven fact" is Internet speak for "in my uneducated opinion"

Re: Women in the work place...

Also, Nick. I don't think you can write stuff like that. Even if the Internet permits it. Your post might end up on CNN and people will be raising money for his early retirement and trip to Disney world.

Re: Women in the work place...

Actually, my mother died of pancreatic cancer. You can make fun of me, but please don't drag my dead mother into this. That is just mean.

Really?

Re: Women in the work place...

Yes really, if I'm not working I go insane. Even if I had all the money in the world, I would still have to work at something. I've always worked sometimes 2 jobs since I was 15 years old. I didn't work for 2 months in college and I thought I was going to go crazy. Yes I was on unemployment for about a year but I still worked part time and painted the other half. Many of you connotate laziness with unemployment. Au contraire.

There is always a need to prostitution.

Re: Women in the work place...

I think its nice if women want to work, but my feeling was that working when they don't have to- especially, if the husband works, is not a good idea. Stuffing your kids in day care is really child abuse.

Congratulations, Meade.

You, sir, are the most bigoted, racist, sexist, confederate-lovin', fake-autistic, virginal, nut-job-and-you-don't-even-know-it, religious idiot I've ever met on the internet.

Re: Women in the work place...

That makes me want to scour tea party message boards to see if I can find someone worse than Meade.

Re: Women in the work place...

I think that is very judgemental of you to say. You don't even back your argument. I'm just a struggling musician from Richmond. I'm certainly not a bad person. I believe in being polite and friendly to others. You have been very rude to me. I bet you're a hipster too.

Re: Women in the work place...

I'm a hipster who would never be caught dead on a tea party message board, Roses.

Everything you've ever posted here backs my argument.

You certainly ARE a bad person, but you think that spewing your backwards-ass views in an "aww-shucks" kinda way makes it acceptable and it doesn't.

It's like you're the Sarah Palin of the .org.

Re: Women in the work place...

Re: Women in the work place...

Having gone to Sundance with a theology class and having viewed a ton of films, this was by far a favorite of the week. When I saw the current rating I felt compelled to share a brief snippet of what I got out of the film.

Honest, Authentic, Redemptive. This is a story about a young girl whose love for her mother drives her into the hustle of the underground Latin music industry. As she catches momentum and the attention of some big names, her integrity is put to the test.

What is most inspiring about the film are the family dynamics. It really portrays commitment to family, despite the lies, manipulation, and imperfection of the human condition. Majo (Gina Rodriguez) is committed to seeing her mother's life redeemed, despite the dissuasion of her immediate family members, and the latter discovery that she was duped into financially supporting her mother's expensive drug habit.

Gina Rodriguez's performance is gritty, strong, and powerful. She truly is the driving force of the film. We found out in the interview that followed the film that the actress went through months of training to learn the craft of rap and spoken word. You would never guess she isn't a natural.

The musical score is also helps to drive the storyline. We were blessed to have gotten some insight from the directors who explained the musical journey of the film was specifically planned to mirror what could be an authentic musical journey for a Latina in the music world. Majo starts out with slam poetry, turns to underground Latin rap, gets picked up by a major label and her music becomes over produced, and eventually finds her true voice.

However, I would venture to say that the music does more than just further the plot. The music follows the hero's journey towards authenticity, as she overcomes her fear of speaking the truth and steps into her identity as a daughter, sister, and friend. It also assists in revealing her calling to be an unabashedly truthful musical artist.

I am a mid twenties white female that does not listen to rap or hip hop music or have a interest in spoken word poetry. Not only did I find myself enjoying the music itself, but I was gripped by the universal truths in this film and felt myself relating to the situations and characters on a deeper level.

Re: Women in the work place...

OK, I'm a girl who normally loves "chick flicks" and comedies, so when I had nothing to do this evening and decided to go see a movie with my parents, (I thought they were seeing "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigalo"...but alas I was incorrect.) and discovered we were going to see "Four Brothers", I was a little upset. I'm normally not one for movies that are seemingly all about people getting revenge and lots of killing and fighting. I dunno..I'm not one for the action/drama type...unless it's a horror movie, and then I'm definitely there. Anyways, I was genuinely surprised at how good this movie ended up being. Each of the four brothers gave an amazing performance. Andre Benjamin showed that he's not only a talented singer, but a talented actor as well.

The movie was much better than I had expected. I laughed, and I (almost) cried. It went through a range of so many different emotions and events in the lives of the four troubled men, all adopted when they were children by one amazing woman who became their world. I don't really know what else to say without spoiling the movie, so I'm going to just leave you with all of what I've said, and the fact that I would most definitely recommend this movie to anyone and everyone.

Re: Women in the work place...

I love Sarah Palin! In fact, I wanted her to run this year. She shares most of the values that I hold dear as an American.I would love to see a woman president some day. I'm sorry you have such a distorted view of me, but I'm a nice person and I always have been. I certainly am no Saint, but I don't go around making fun of people's weight problems and using their bulge as an avatar.

Re: Women in the work place...

Sarah Palin is a wonderful person. And the left winged media was upset because here is an attractive woman who is another Republican with hardcore conservative values. Anti-feminist, yet highly successful herself as the Governor of Alaska! She sure put Alaska on the map. And she is a doll too.

Re: Women in the work place...

Exactly, Willie.

You bombard this board for a month with "Am I fat?" threads and when I finally give you an honest answer that you are, I'M the bad guy?!?

FUCK YOU, FATTY. I HOPE YOU DIE CHOKING ON A CRACKER BARREL BISCUIT, YOU MISERABLE FATHOLE.

Re: Women in the work place...

That's not exactly how it happened. I made a thread asking why was it so hard to lose weight? Because it really is hard to lose weight for some people. I asked you personally. Before you told me I wasn't obese, and now you say I am? Well, I think you're very mean and I even complimented you saying you looked like Jessica Lange. Maybe I should take my compliment back.

How many times are you gonna change that paragraph?

I never once said you were obese. You're overweight and you know you're overweight, but you want me (and everyone else here) to tell you otherwise.

I even complimented you, when you said you lost weight.

This doesn't really even have anything to do with your weight. It's your racist, sexist posts that have got on my last ever-lovin' nerve.

You keep saying you're a nice person, but your bigoted views suggest otherwise and the sad part is that you can't even see that.

Re: Women in the work place...

My views are not bigoted at all. I just believe that marriage should be between 1 man and 1 woman. I do believe that it does work best when women stay in the home and the man works, so that home life is stable and secure. I believe our country is a Christian nation, founded on Christian principles. We need to get back to morality and decency in America. Seriously- is that bigoted? I think not. I realize we have a difference in opinion, but you should be open and respectful of others opinions as well. Isn't that what part of being "liberal" is about?

Still, you did attack my weight frequently, and I think that pretty much everyone here didn't hold back to tell me how unattractive they think I am.
BTW, most of my views I got from my own mother, who was a woman, who also believed this.

Re: Women in the work place...

Meade, the Christianity that you believe in is not the same Christianity that the hobo carpenter Jesus preached. What he preached was good and knowledgable. The catholic church changed and twisted his words and stories so they could control the masses, hence, Jesus would have never intended for women and gays to be treated unfairly. He was very kind and open-hearted. If you do not realize that then you are a part of the evil flock of sheeple who Jesus was trying to "save". He is probably flipping in his grave over the joke that the church and Christianity has become.

Re: Women in the work place...

IN daycare the child gets to grow up and play with other children, at home he/she will not develop those social skills. Daycares are NOT bad, the employees are great and work very hard. To say they are "dumped" into day care is an insult to them. They are very interactive and its a great place for a child to be.
