i don't have the integrity to be a working professional

i don't have the stability to be anything other than a somethin' livin' in a van in parks and parking lots. i can feed myself and pay for gas with whatever i make washing dishes or sweeping floors. i can save up a little money and drive on to other towns, rape stray dogs and unattended children along the way.

i actually liked this response from you, Doogie. this bit of criticism is actually slightly accurate and possibly helpful.
you see, i'm really not motivated to be anything. i grew up under a father who gained and lost fortunes within my lifetime. i've seen both sides of the coin: rich kid and poor kid. and i don't care much for ever having wealth, so i don't care about climbing any corporate ladders. i don't want to be an entrepreneur like my dad.
at times i think i would like to own a modest house, make it a home, and live a "normal" life. but, i don't really know how to achieve that. mein fuhrer went for all or nothing -- from trophy wife to deadbeat dad.
i'm scraping by now, and the more and more i think about it, the more i see "dropping out" of society as very appealing.

A prerequisite to 'dropping out' is to be a productive member of society. You can't drop far from the ground floor.

"But if you really wanna off yourself soon and really feel good going into it, read Schopenhauer. He's your man."
Actually, that's a misconception. Schopenhauer thinks suicide is for losers who value life so much that they can't handle the fact their own particular lives aren't all that great. Real men suck it up and die of natural causes.

i'm not going to kill myself, Doogie.
if i decide to forfeit my life i will do so by going on a path of destruction, ending when some good soul executes me to defend their precious society.
but, we are very different, Doogie, you and me. you believe in God. i don't. i'm not bound by the same pathetic fear structure as you.

That's true, though a lot of his writing (his best writing imo) is about the things that do make life worth living: the fine arts, music especially.
I love him. The World as Will and Representation is my all-time favorite book. No so much because of it's content, mostly because of it's style.
He's a grumpy bastard but he's no dummy. He kinda reminds me of you.

Falling back on an English degree is like a trust fall into a pile of paraplegic dwarves.

i have an English degree, but it's from Penn State, which is a really good school for a state university
so, there's that whole turning-a-blind-eye-to-child-rape thing but no one really cares that much about that

I have a job now, bc of my degree w/ pay accordingly for the first time since I graduated. It took me almost 10 yrs.
I have had jobs in the past bc of my degree, but with shit pay. DONT think a degree in your pocket is a ticket out of homelessness.
