Queensland is seriously fucked. The footage is terrifying, cars and houses being washed away like kids toys. Rockhampton has the equivalent of 3 Sydney Harbours (7 olympic swimming pools a second) flowing through it a day. Some relatives lost their home, too. Its hard to comprehend when less than 12 months ago, we were facing a horrific drought.

I've seen quite a lot about it. That's just insane.

Barely. I saw one report like 2 or 3 days ago. News is reserved for the more important cities and countries. I lived in an area where 51 people drowned in flooding. It was just a bleep on the news. It was the result if two hurricanes and a freak front that created flooding over the whole Eastern part of North Carolina. A hurricane went through the capital City of Raleigh and maybe killed 1or 2 people? Or maybe no-one. They still talk about it like the worst thing that ever happened.

Actually wiki says only 57 people drowned in the flooding not so well reported. Americas first incorporated black town was submerged in water way higher than the rooftops. This was 1999 and people crawled into their attics only to get trapped and drowned in there. Thousands were plucked from rooftops. For those of us who it was kinda personal we knew how it was going to be for New Orleans when the first reports started coming in. Always always get well above the 500 year floodplain before the water comes.

From what I understand, things were supposed to calm down a little today but its much worse. 8 just confirmed dead and dozens missing. A mother and child were stuck in a car and died, breaks my heart.

Its really fucking bad and the waters havent even peaked yet. They's calling it an inland tsunami now.

To put it in perspective, the area of Australia which is now underwater is larger than Germany and Poland combined.

Wow. I don't prescribe to the "End Times" theories and what not, but this is, nonetheless a horrible situation for Australia.

I just hope that Wyclef Jean doesn't run for Prime Minister now.
