Ridiculously Stoopid Photography Question

I took pictures at a concert Friday night, which I then uploaded and posted on Facebook. The band saw them, loved them and asked if they could get high-resolution files sent to them to add to a live CD and DVD they're making.

What actually constitutes high-resolution for something professional like that?

I can't believe this. The one time I take a camera to a concert . . .

That's the pure files you had on your camera, not those that facebook worked on.

Just send them the raw jpegs that you took, cause that's the best and biggest you got.

So...share some here?

Sure. I guess I could share them here. :o)

So, if I put them on any social-networking site or photo site or zip them a link, I'm ruining the resolution? What do I do? Just email them? You know, INDIVIDUALLY? There are A LOT of pictures here.

PS . . .

I'm sorry I sound so clueless, but it IS 3:00 in the morning. *yawns*

Re: Ridiculously Stoopid Photography Question

You could e-mail them individually. Alternatively, you could place all of the files in a folder, convert said folder into a .zip file and just send the band that. I'd just reply and ask how they'd prefer you forward the material. You ARE doing them a favor, after all.

The handsome r8 makes a good point--email them, individually, or as a larger file, but remember that you are doing them a favor.

Facebook and other photo sharing sites size your photos smaller, as well as process them to try and make them take up less room on their servers

if you have a flickr pro account this is not the case, flickr will hold the original size photo

your best course of action is what r8753876 said

put all those photos in a folder, then zip that entire folder, then upload that zip file to a site like megaupload.com (their max file size is 1024 MB... I'm assuming that's enough)

all you need to do after you upload the zip file to megaupload is send a link to the band to download it from there
